Common Questions About Brainspotting
What is Brainspotting? Brainspotting (BSP) is a therapy approach that uses eye position to access and process material stored in the brain and body, the parts of an experience that talk therapy alone doesn't always reach.
How is Brainspotting different from talk therapy? Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting doesn't require you to verbally recount what happened in detail. Much of the processing happens at a nervous-system level, often without needing to "tell the story" out loud.
What does a Brainspotting session actually look like? You'll be guided to find a specific eye position connected to whatever you're working through, then simply notice what comes up, physically, emotionally, or otherwise, while I support you in staying present with it.
Do I need to know exactly what happened to me for this to work? No. Brainspotting can be effective even without a clear narrative or full memory of an experience, since it works with what the body and brain are holding, not just what you consciously recall.
